Those who backed Spudnik Press’s Gigposter Project Kickstarter are in for a treat. The reward is this beautiful 5 color screen print by Johnny Sampson. Here’s a bit of background on the project that Johnny posted along with the release of the print:
“Bloom” 5 color screen print made from hand-cut rubylith on Cougar 100# 18×24 paper. This was made as a reward for Kickstarter contributors for Spudnik Press’s “Gigposter Project” for which myself and a teaching artist both went to 3 different Chicago high schools and showed kids how to screen print and make their own posters. A popular subject of many of the kids’ posters was the Chicago Bulls- specifically Derrick Rose, a home-town hero. I paid tribute to the kids’ efforts by doing my own rose, which like Derrick, flourished in spite of his surroundings.
